Situated on the East Coast of South Africa, SAPREF, a joint venture between Shell Refining SA and BP Southern Africa, operates a fuels import terminal situated in the Port of Durban. The terminal is a vital part of the fuel supply chain in South Africa. Products imported include mogas, jet, diesel, and fuel oil. Import volumes typically exceed 500 million liters per month.
The new ISGOTT 6 guide is more focused on human factors. It clearly states that in order to maintain and improve safety management, tankers and terminals need a better understanding of the risks posed by human factors.
